album review...

or at least half of an album review of metallica's death magnetic, because i was only able to get through half of it before i had to turn on some real metal.

i downloaded it off of itunes this weekend. michelle listened to it before i did, and she gave it a thumbs up.

i however...gave half of it a listen. upon initial view, ten songs all over six minutes except one. not that i care how long a song is; however this does play into my review/critique. let's answer the first question...is it better than saint anger? yes. heavier. the drums and bass are more 'together', and in sync with one another. although the bass doesn't stand out like on the black album or their earlier work. which is too bad, because robert is an awesome bassist. listen to his work with suicidal tendencies...amazing.

guitar wise...too 'riffy'. the riffs change and mutate for no apparent reason. it seems like they got bored during the writing of the song, came up with a new riff that sounded good with the song, and through it in, and the song expands in length. they're trying to cram too much into one song.

i am getting weary of jame's vocal style. it is getting repetitive. and lyrically...sub-par. i mean i know metal lyrics are sometime cheesy (hell i love manowar), but come on. some of the things coming out of jame's mouth, was like he's not even trying. and do we really need an unforgiven three?

b minus at best.

Girls don't know much about metal. :P

And that album cover is severely gay. As well as the title.

Way to gay it up Bay Buttfaces!

What is funny to me is I use to be a big fan of Suicidal Tendencies before Robert joined the group and did not think they were as good after. I also used to be a fan of Metallica too pre-Robert. He may be good but he picks the wrong time to join a band it seems...
