reply to the...

observation again...

my comment got too long. sorry...

is their motivation compassion though? let's look at this small scale...cleveland. this city has been run by democratic party for years, and yet this city is going down the drain. where's the compassion if the job's are leaving, taxes are going higher for something that may or may not be happening (that medical mart), and people keep on voting for good o' denise who keeps lining his pockets with millions from the movie stars, and then will be able to collect that when he gets out of politics. compassion...mayor jackson doesn't want to work with the police force so that they are able to do their job effectively.

also, i never said i was voting republican.

do i want to be governed by the christian conservative? no.

do i want to be governed by the liberal bleeding heart tree-huggers? no.

the problem with both is that they both will deal in legislating morality. and that is what i am totally against. morals should not be politicized. period.

however; at least i know where the christian conservative stands. i understand where they are coming from and where they are going. again not a train that i want to ride.

but i have no idea where the tree-huggers are going, and no idea where they are coming from. i am also not about this whole idea that 'i'm o.k. and you're o.k.' subjectivist point of view.

i feel like that girl who keeps picking jerks in her life, and she wonders why all her boy-friends have been jerks. i'm a romantic. i guess i'm waiting for that person who will step up to the plate and actually care for the society, and not just his pockets and legacy. i think i said this before...we need to stop electing lawyers. i don't want a lawyer to lead me anywhere, except in a courtroom. a leader of men should know and understand what a man is, first. then move from there...like i said; i'm a romantic...

Politics and compassion in the same sentence?

The republican remark was done with tongue firmly in cheek.

Your idea of not legislating morals is good in theory. And I wish we did not have to. Unfortunately reality dictates something different.

For me the real issue is apathy. People just don't care. And that is what special interests count on to get their agenda through. Politicians have no choice but to take their money and vote the way special interests want. Look at how many people don't even bother to vote anymore. And how many people who don't take the time to speak out on any issue. If they did maybe we could get a politician that actually represented the people. The current system is corrupt and needs to be changed. How? That is the million dollar question.

And I still think we need to tip a pint or single malt or two. Maybe tonight at the cd release party? Check out Wa's blog for details.
