reply to the...

observation again...

my comment got too long. sorry...

is their motivation compassion though? let's look at this small scale...cleveland. this city has been run by democratic party for years, and yet this city is going down the drain. where's the compassion if the job's are leaving, taxes are going higher for something that may or may not be happening (that medical mart), and people keep on voting for good o' denise who keeps lining his pockets with millions from the movie stars, and then will be able to collect that when he gets out of politics. compassion...mayor jackson doesn't want to work with the police force so that they are able to do their job effectively.

also, i never said i was voting republican.

do i want to be governed by the christian conservative? no.

do i want to be governed by the liberal bleeding heart tree-huggers? no.

the problem with both is that they both will deal in legislating morality. and that is what i am totally against. morals should not be politicized. period.

however; at least i know where the christian conservative stands. i understand where they are coming from and where they are going. again not a train that i want to ride.

but i have no idea where the tree-huggers are going, and no idea where they are coming from. i am also not about this whole idea that 'i'm o.k. and you're o.k.' subjectivist point of view.

i feel like that girl who keeps picking jerks in her life, and she wonders why all her boy-friends have been jerks. i'm a romantic. i guess i'm waiting for that person who will step up to the plate and actually care for the society, and not just his pockets and legacy. i think i said this before...we need to stop electing lawyers. i don't want a lawyer to lead me anywhere, except in a courtroom. a leader of men should know and understand what a man is, first. then move from there...like i said; i'm a romantic...

to what's been said in a observation:

first point: are they 'appeasing' all the share holders? no.

second: define 'social change'. is it to make it easier for poor people to get a house, and then when interest rates change, and they can't afford it to foreclose? chalk that one up to good 'o bill.

is 'social change' to tax the hell out of everybody so we are all on an 'equal playing field'?

'life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness'

i can't smoke in a public areas anymore. why?

food with saturated fat is being taken away. why?

these things are deemed un-healthy, so now we make laws against them.

where's my choice to choose?

we are unable to drill for oil, because we might upset a bear. meanwhile gas prices are on the rise [in reference to my first point...are you o.k. with the shareholders of the oil companies? that's business.]

we have a politician telling us that the 'planet has a fever.' a politician. i don't trust anything a politician tells me...do you? [hey did you know that gullible isn't in the dictionary?]

'equal playing field' -what do i mean...well...we are born into this society. this capitalistic society. there is wealth out there...go get it. adam smith and the 'wealth of nations'.

or do you prefer a different 'equal playing field'? one where my money (which i have worked hard for) goes to some lazy bastard who doesn't want to work. who believes that everybody in the world owes him something? maybe you'd prefer a different book. where everybody is 'equal'. where everybody has the same. where the government takes away all private utilities. where the government runs everything, and you don't have to worry. you don't have to make a choice, because there is no choice to be had. try this for a read; because this is what the democratic party is preaching. just listen.

i believe in the constitution. i don't believe that the government is there to wipe my ass when i can't reach it. i do believe the government is there to protect me, as a citizen. to allow me my freedoms. lassie fair.

maybe you want to be your brothers keeper. not me. i am no one's moral police.

why is it...

that the democratic party is against 'big business', but yet they want to sink more money into the business of government? thus making government bigger, and at the same time take away our liberties and our freedom of choice?

public announcement...

about myself...i am not muslim. i am not against it; i am just not part of that religion.

you maybe asking yourself; 'why does he bring this up?'

well let me tell you...

the other day i took a trip to my mailbox and found this amongst my mail. i asked my wife if her mother signed me up for this magazine, and she said no (her mother knows that i'm interested in religion and the current climate of such). the magazine focuses on being muslim in a modern world and such. as i'm sure there are difficulties that muslim face (art, being gay, etc.)...i'm not interested.

and this is what pisses me off...just because of my last name i get all sorts of this shit sent to me. it happens in my school mailbox, and now at home. great.

the last name is lebanese, correct. however...a little family tree history: i am also part polish, hungarian, english, irish. i was born in america. i am an american. i have no interest in 'family roots' in the old country. why don't i get invites to join the i.r.a.?

a few stories:

i worked at a pharmacy through college, and i once worked with a pharmacist a couple times who was lebanese (straight from the 'old country'), and when he found out my last name, he acted like we were long lost brothers. saying that i should go to the 'old country' sometime. what are you nuts? they're killing each other over there. i ain't going. besides...i'm an american.

i taught a world religions class once. and the students wanted to know what my religion was. i never tell. for a lot of reasons. but one student said i was muslim (i heard this from another student). i asked why this other student thought so, and this student told me, it was because of my last name. and that's it.

so, in this 'post nine eleven' world i too feel the stigma. i'm not being a 'baby' about it, because in some sense i accept it. i don't do anything 'odd', or that would warrant a 'check-up'; but i am aware. this often happens on my trips up north. often getting pulled over, or asked really odd questions from the boarder patrol. but it's their job. don't be a fuck, and everything will be o.k.

and for the record...a couple of weeks ago i took my five precepts in buddhism; therefore i am a buddhist. that is my religion. not muslim.

in this post...

i am going to swear...so i apologizes now....

what the fuck does puerto rico have to do with our elections? i'm serious!!!

i saw this in the news a couple days ago.

they are not even a fucking state. why do they get a say in how this country is run? who the fuck are they? so u.s. territories are able to vote in our elections, but we can't/won't/don't govern them? what the hell is that?

my feeling is if they want to vote, let's put another star on our flag, and call 'em a state. case closed.

it has become my feeling that obama only did well there because he said he's been to fifty-seven states, and what the hell does puerto rico know about the united states?

i've got to tell you...this is bullshit. why do u.s. territories get a say? can anybody tell me?
